When conducting construction work, many people prefer natural materials. One of these materials is wood. Our article we will talk about how to put wooden windows.

Preparatory work

First you need to prepare the openings where the window frames will be inserted. They must be characterized by lack of:

• rather large cracks;
• any distortion;
• other defects.

For high-quality installation of wooden windows, the opening should have straight corners. If the old windows are disassembly, the design is subjected to thorough purification from dirty spots, dust and various garbage.

At the next stage, the opening is performed. In many respects, the continued course of work depends on its proper implementation. Measurements are carried out in three parts of the parallel sides of the opening:

• at the top edge;
• in the middle;
• at the bottom edge.

In the presence of a significant chain, you will have to make an increase in the size of the opening, which must be more window box:

• by 1.5-2.5 cm at the top and on the sides of the opening;
• 5.5-6.5 cm at the bottom of the design.

Only due to the observance of such measures, you can prevent the occurrence of cracks that appear between the window frame and the opening in places with fairly strong skews. When conducting thermal insulation works, the internal dimensions of the openings must exceed the size of the window frame by 2.5-3 cm.

Wooden windows themselves must have a quality certificate and a warranty period of up to 10 years. Such products include window fittings manufactured by Maso and Roto companies. Criteria for selecting wooden windows on video:

Installation of window frames

After preparing the opening, you can proceed to the direct installation of wooden windows. This procedure is carried out in one of three ways, namely, by using:

• plates;
• pads;
• through method.

Mounting pads

Applying this technology of installing wooden windows with your own hands is suitable only when the installation of the window frame will be carried out in the opening characterized by ideal dimensions. The following sequence of actions is performed:

• the surface is covered with waterproofing material;
• an antiseptic mounting pad is processed;
• mounted pads on a waterproofing coating in such a way that their location is parallel to the outer edge of the adjacent wall;
• from wooden windows, removal of sash;
• mounting window boxes are made;
• wedges are applied to their correct fixation;
• the distance from the box to the extreme part of the opening is made the same throughout the window perimeter.

Mounting plates

A more reliable fastening of wooden windows is carried out when using plates:

• they are mounted on both sides (side and top of the frame) in 25-30 cm increments from the corners of the accessories;
• plates are connected to the box;
• the plate is heading towards the room, bends and fixed by self-drawing (but it is not delayed to the end) to the inner part of the structure;
• with the height of the window frame greater than 1.4 m, another pair of mounting plates in the middle part of the frame is mounted;
• when mounting the window box, put wedges;
• after checking the correctness of the horizontal and vertical position of the wooden windows for the cottage, the wedges are removed;
• complete screws are performed.

Through method

Now about how to install a wooden window using a through method. This technology is the most efficient way to install the window frame (albeit more time-consuming). The window frame will not change its position under the influence of the mechanical load, and the offset and distortion are generally excluded.

The only problem with which all consumers face will be the need to temporarily remove the glass package. To do this, it will be necessary to carefully remove the strokes and glass. Then:

• a drilling of 2-3 holes from above and on the side of the inner part of the frame are performed;
• the frame is mounted in its place;
• its correct location in vertical and horizontal planes is checked;
• through the hole drilled in the frame, drilling points on the wall are outlined;
• rama is removed from the opening;
• at the noted points make holes;
• they are driven dowels under the self-tapping screw;
• rama is again inserted into the former place;
• in the holes made in the frame, and the dowels are screwed down;
• once again, the level of location of the window is checked;
• there is a final fastening of the frame with the help of screws;
• self-tapping screws are closed with decorative plastic plugs.

Construction arrangement

Insert wooden windows. You will still need to carry out insulation work and install the windowsill with lowers.

To prevent penetration into the moisture and cold air room between the inserted window frame and the opening, all the cracks should be seen. For these purposes, an assembly foam is used, which is expanding after applying and fills all the space. The foam layer should not be interrupted. It is applied evenly throughout the perimeter of the window in one movement.

The work of the windowsill and tump is completed:

• applying windowsill under the window frames;
• there is an alignment of their location by level and the maximum dense connection with the frame;
• the whole surface under the windowsill and windows is closed using a mounting foam;
• for the "hold" design in one place on the windowsill, you can put several plastic water bottles;
• there is cutting blanks with a reserve of up to 6 cm (3 cm on each side);
• the screwing of the sumps by self-drawing begins with the bottom of the window frame;
• the final fixation of the inner side of the mound occurs with the help of point marking of the surface.

Some Soviets

For high-quality installation work, follow the following rules:

• installation of wooden windows is carried out at a temperature of 15ºС and higher;
• when removing the glasses, all the strokes are numbered;
• window frames should not hang on dowels;
• in order to avoid the flexing of the window profile, the screws are not delayed too tight.

To prevent the appearance of condensate inside the windows, it is necessary to properly determine the depth of their installation in the opening. The dew point inside the window should be within 10ºС.
